sponsors telling sponsees what to do about medicine

This may be controversal, but one of your speakers had a sponser advising on Antipressants. That person quit per her suggestion. This is unbelievable and dangerous. Mental illness is serious stuff, and anti-depressants are NOT mood altering.

Sponsors are not doctors, financial advisors, marraige advisors, etc. They are guide through the program of AA, and the book and the only advise a sponsor is qualified to give is go to a meeting, don't drink, read the big book, help another alcoholic, you get the point.

Absolutely Agree

This type of thing needs to be brought up at the meeting itself. The secretary should mention that we are not doctors and never give medical advice (as members of AA).

Advising on Medicine is a Felony

You are absolutely right.  Telling someone to not take their medication is a felony: it's called practicing medicine without a license.  Only a licensed physician is in a position to tell someone to stop taking medications.
